Joseph Zemmels, PhD
(He/him)Joseph Zemmels (He/him) is a Data Scientist for the USGS Water Resources Mission Area.
In his role as a Data Scientist, Joe leads the Analytics function of the VizLab and Analytics team in the Data Science Branch of the USGS Water Resources Mission Area. He develops robust, reproducible data workflows for various analytics reporting mechanisms and creates tools to help others work with and analyze data more efficiently.
Joe received a PhD in Statistics from Iowa State University in 2023. His dissertation focused on developing accessible data science tools and statistical models for comparing and classifying forensic ballistics evidence.
